App Folder is an app that's been developed by Nokia and is currently only available for Lumia phones. It lets you create app folders on the home screen so that you can re-organize it to gain faster access to the apps you use most.
Your Home screen, iPhone or Android style
The Windows phone home screen, despite being very pretty and practical, does have some notable shortcomings. One of them is the inability to natively group apps into folders. Luckily, App Folder solves this problem.
With App Folder, you can group multiple items together to be displayed in a single folder on the Home screen. There are no limits, as you can add all the items you want to a folder.
App Folder also lets you add system settings options such as audio, Bluetooth, airplane mode, Wi-Fi or location services to folders. Unfortunately, there are some options missing, like the calendar or calculator.
Once you have created your folder, you can always add or remove items, as well as adding new folders or renaming folders.
Very easy to use
Using App Folder is very easy. All you have to do is create folders, give them a name, and add (or remove) items. When creating folders, they appear in the Start menu as a more dynamic icon so that you can change the size of them between wide, medium and small.
When you open the folder, you can open the applications included in it. This isn't an ideal solution, because it requires an extra step to run the apps, but it's good for organization.
It's missing something...
App Folder brings something to Windows Phone that should be included natively in the system. It may not allow direct access to apps, since it requires an extra step, but it's still a very helpful application and is 100% recommended.
